Privacy Policy

The short version

Your fasting data lives on your phone. We collect anonymous analytics to understand which features get used. We don't sell your data. We don't run ads. We don't track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect

  • On-device data (never sent to us): Your fasting sessions, plan, profile (goal, experience level, meal times, wake/sleep schedule), water logs, protein checks, and reminder settings. All stored locally on your device using SwiftData. We cannot access this data.
  • Anonymous analytics: We use PostHog to track events like "app opened," "fast started," "plan generated," and "paywall viewed." These events include no personal information. They help us understand which features are useful and where users get stuck.
  • Email (website only): If you join the waitlist, we store your email in a Google Sheet to notify you when the app launches. That's it. No marketing emails until launch, and you can opt out anytime.
  • Purchases: Subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We only know whether you have an active subscription — not your payment details. Apple handles all billing.

What we don't collect

  • No HealthKit or health data
  • No camera or photo access
  • No location data
  • No ad tracking (no IDFA, no ATT prompt, no ad SDKs)
  • No cross-app tracking
  • No personal information beyond waitlist email

Website analytics

Our website uses Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that doesn't use cookies and doesn't collect personal data. It tells us aggregate page views and referral sources, nothing more.

Notifications

GentleFast sends local notifications for fasting reminders (start and end of your fasting window). These are scheduled on your device and never sent through a server. You can turn them off anytime in Settings or in iOS notification settings.

Data retention

On-device data stays until you delete the app. Analytics events are retained by PostHog according to their policy. Waitlist emails are kept until you ask to be removed or until we stop using the waitlist.

Your rights

  • Delete the app to erase all fasting data from your device.
  • Turn off notifications in iOS Settings → GentleFast.
  • Email us to remove your waitlist email at any time.

Children

GentleFast is not intended for users under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has joined the waitlist, contact us and we'll remove the email.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date above. No silent changes.
